2nd Grade Field Trip to Philipsburg Manor, Sleepy Hollow.
This afternoon I accompanied some of the 2nd Graders from Morse School on their field trip to Philipsburg Manor. It was a very educational trip for us all. We learnt about spinning yarn, how the gristmill works, saw the newborn lambs roaming freely and had the chance to see what the living conditions were like back in the 1750 in rural Sleepy Hollow.
It was a very hands on experience for the children. They got to help the miller grind some corn, saw first hand how complicated the spinning process was and were shocked that people back then lived in a one room home with no sink and slept on a straw bed on the floor!
